door

Upward Hyperlinks: Room, House (NOTE: Examples only - don't click yet!)

Problem: People need to be able to secure a room from entry by other people, or at other times, to be able to open it for others, or for themselves.

Discussion: We need a structure that can be closed off easily, or alternatively, opened up easily. It needs to move from a position blocking the opening completely, to a position leaving the opening free for passage.

The hinged slab works very well for this purpose. However, the hinged slab can be opened simply by pushing on the side. Therefore, an additional device is needed, a knob that is capable of being locked from one side, and tjat releases from both sides.

Place at least two hinges on one side, and a latching handle on the other.

Therefore: Whenever a room needs to be secured from other rooms or hallways, place a Door in a position that makes a suitable connection.

Downward Hyperlinks: Use a Slab for the body of the door. Place Hinges on one side, and a Latching Handle on the other, high enough to be accessed easily by a normal person or a person in a wheelchair.

Note: These hyperlinks don't go anywhere, because we're just showing them to you as examples.
